Excavator Grapple Pin Mount Repair Done Right On-Site

Two completely broken ears on a grapple pin mounting assembly. That's what we were working with when this job came in. The ears - the steel mounts that hold the pin and keep the whole attachment connected and functional - had failed entirely. Not cracked. Not bent. Broken off. At that point, the grapple is basically dead weight.

Here's what we did. We cut off all the damaged material, fabricated new heavy-duty mounts from scratch, got everything lined up properly, and welded it back solid. Alignment matters a lot on this type of repair. If the pin bores don't line up cleanly, the assembly won't seat right and you'll be back in the same situation - or worse - in short order. We made sure that didn't happen.

The part that makes this kind of repair practical is that we came to the equipment. No hauling a machine to a shop. No waiting days for a service appointment. We loaded up and brought the repair to the jobsite in the Washington, MO area. For contractors and operators running on tight schedules, that's a big deal. Downtime on heavy equipment is expensive.
