We built this sod unroller attachment from scratch at the customers shop for him. Just raw steel, a welder, and a clear idea of what the end product needed to do.
Here's the thing about laying sod with a skid loader - without the right attachment, you're moving rolls by hand or fighting with makeshift setups that slow the whole job down. A purpose-built unroller changes that entirely. It keeps the roll centered, controlled, and ready to lay down cleanly without the extra crew or the extra effort.
We started with the steel frame, laid out the gussets and supports, and welded everything solid. Once the frame was dialed in, it got a full coat of paint - one version in gray primer, the finished unit in gloss black.
The roll support bar runs the full width of the frame with end caps on both sides to keep the sod roll from walking off during use. The gusseted uprights handle the weight load without flexing. It's a simple design on purpose - fewer moving parts means less that can go wrong in the field.
We do a lot of this kind of work out of our shop. Custom attachments, fabrication, one-off builds for specific jobs. If you've got a machine and need something built to work with it, this is the kind of thing we handle.
